Melissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience specializing in individuals in the arts and young adults.

I trained at Smith College and spent the majority of my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, providing psychotherapy primarily with actors, filmmakers, writers and other visual and performing artists. In 2018, I became a mental health consultant at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City. I have experience in clinical supervision with a SIFI Certification from New York University. I hold a Masters in Social Work from Smith College and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.

I provide workshops and consultations to organizations about managing mental health issues in various settings, such as the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and the Upright Citizens Brigade Training Center in New York City. I also conduct workshops for high school students and their parents on the transition to college and mental health concerns. I have collaborated with a variety of independent schools in the New York City area, including Friends Seminary, Packer Collegiate, and Ethical Culture Fieldston School.

I work with a wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, separation/individuation, bereavement, relationship concerns and LGBTQIA concerns, as well as the challenges particular to artists such as performance anxiety, career anxiety and writer's block.
